As a result of an initial assessment in it was recognised that there were a number of inherent problems within our organisation that would benefit from the adoption a Quality Management System and as a consequence a process of moving towards the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 commenced in the year 2000.

In May of 2001, a course of action was undertaken to enable compliance, through a number of Internal Audit processes. The date of implementation for all Policies and Procedures pertaining to our services was adopted on June 12th of that year, and a Certification Audit for recognition as a Quality Endorsed Company was completed on June 26th.

Due to the growth of our organisation there has been a necessity for HHELP Services to undertake significant changes during the past five years of our operations. This process would not have been possible without the availability of a Quality Management System.

The Minister for Communities and Disability Services launched the Queensland Disability Service Standards on March 24th, 2004 and as a result our Board of Management resolved that an internal gap analysis should be undertaken to ascertain what further work needed to be undertaken by HHELP Services to seek compliance with the Disability Sector Quality System.

It was agreed that, with some minor modifications to our system, a Certification Audit could commence in July 2005. A Surveillance Audit for a Quality Endorsed Company was conducted at the same time as a Certification Audit for Certification of Registration within the Disability Sector Quality System.

As a result of these audits HHELP Services was the first Queensland disability support organisation to be certified against Queensland's new Disability Services Standards.
